I explain my go-to print PDF preset. Not only does it take care of color conversion it also outlines all your text when you export your PDF. This preset has never failed me yet, but I encourage you to check with your printer for specifics. This preset is set up to be more universal and friendly among a variety of printers and age of technology.

  • Thank you very much, your tutorials were too helpful for me

I work as Visual Art Magazine designer and i gained a lot of experience from you

    thanks again.

  • @hamoza2020 Great! Thanks for watching and good luck on your projects.

  • I normally print out large scale prints (3ft x 4ft) on large HP plotters which, are sort of like ink jet printers, when I do make my layouts saved as pdfs would I change it to press quality as well? also sometimes I do layouts in illustrator, is it possible to somehow package an illustrator file because I have to transfer computers to a lab to print out with the plotters and I often loose linked files I have placed

  • @aguaminte77 Yes, I would stick with Press quality for a plotter. The best format for Illustrator is to save out as an .eps and make sure your text is outlined to avoid font linking issues when switching computers. Be sure to save a working file that you can always go back to for edits before you outline your text. I always have a working .ai and a final .eps file for printing. I don't think Illustrator has a packaging option like InDesign. Has anyone else out there found a better option?

  • hi nikkie! i have a big question...i can't find the answer to anywhere on any forums online. i have been laying out a book...it's pretty much just text. it's been totally fine, i've been multiple copies and backing them up. the file has remained under 5mb even with the few graphic titles. they're small. but this week, now that i'm almost done!, when i saved the files, they jumped to over 40mb!! and i dont' know why. i have done the save as solutions to no avail. and i don't know what else to do.

  • @aguaminte77 also, when saving the EPS or AI file, don't forget to tick the box where it says "Include linked files" so you have everything in that document.

  • I do not speak much English but I try to tell you ... THANK YOU for all your tutorials
