A recent addition to the Pipes in the Peaks collection near Ashbourne is this Decap 105 key Extra Special Dance Organ, which operates from traditional cardboard books but incorporates a combination of pipes and electronically generated sounds. It has three Crucianelli working accordions, and full pneumatically operated percussion, as well as xylophone. It was built in 1979 by Gebroeders Decap of Antwerp, Belgium, for the Belle Vue Dancing venue in the Netherlands.

It is used now to provide music before and during the intervals of Pipes in the Peaks Shows and Concerts, but was kindly played here for us by David Thorp who took time away from his busy work (at the Dovedale Garage, Thorpe) - very much appreciated.

Here it plays:

Red Roses for a Blue Lady
Margie
O Sole Mio
Frenesi

  • The organ was new building for Dancing Belle Veu in the Netherlands, before this organ standing there a 112 key semi electronic Verbeeck organ.

  • @dansorgel Thanks for the information :)

  • Arrangements by Dick Gillet. Nice!

  • @Hiddovanos Thanks! :)

  • Great video Nick,

I've been to Pipes in the Peaks and heard the Compton being played one of the resident organists.

  • @musicmachinesuk Thanks! Yes the Compton there is well worth hearing too - I haven't yet been to a concert but have had the privilege of a private short 'concert' a few years back.

  • If they bought this organ through AC Pilmer i bet they paid a lot of money for it.

  • First class video, of a first class organ Dance Dance Dance.

  • @petermackett37 Judging from the book label at the beginning of this vid, all these tunes were arranged by Dick Gillet, and cut and supplied by Andrew Pilmer.

  • Nice video, thanks!
