The question is, with the price of gas so high now, do you still own the boat and if so how often do you run it?

For what it's worth, I wouldn't run those engines above idle on a hose. A typical garden hose cant supply the volume of water that your sea pump requires above idle. They will literally collapse the hose, starve the pump for water and burn up the impeller. Be careful and enjoy that wave-crusher!!!

i would have stuck with the baja

No propellers? I could swim faster.

Thats Baja....have you ever been out in say one of Reggies boats ? When you have then you'll know what 120MPH feels like in a boat built to race.

This guy has gotta be compensating for something. LOL

nice to have money. Just remember the old proverb ' A boat is just a hole in the water in which pours money'

@rd2fst If you want speed you don't want an Apache. If you want the best rough water V you don't want anything else.

Howdy from Wallenpaupak. Bajas, meh. My bud bought a 226, I got a Powerquest 260 Legend SX. He's got 40hp more, and 4' less, my "slam shack" is bigger&taller. Pound on his hull vs mine and his resonates. Because Bajas have a shallower draft/flatter bottom he can kill me in the smooth, but I walk him in any chop w/o spilling a soda ocifer. My cuz (272, bigger 226) and bud both sent 'em back to the factory when the gelcoat started falling out after 2-3 years. Good luck w/the Apache, it's schweet!

Baja was a good boat but the one particular one I bought was neglected and I ended up having to strip the whole engine compartment and replace everything, wiring, steering, gimbals, engines, drives, all of it. the boat should have come with K planes and full hydraulic steering and it did not, for what it was it was an inexpensive boat, it really should have had better components to make it safer and better performance to run at speed. Its not a bad boat, Mine was just neglected from day 1

@242DEE
I have just made some substantial investments in my Apache over the last few weeks, so I am going to stick with my 41 Apache for quite awhile. If I ever did decide to sell the Apache & replace it, I am 99% sure I would sell the Apache without the engines in it & go for a 42 Fountain Lightning (or the newer 42 Fountain Executioner) with Twin Staggered engines & #6 drives & put the Apache engines in the Fountain. A 42 Fountain with T/1000 HP would be pure INSANITY and FUN to drive!!!

Nice Apache, drives look like they're from the 90's, Mercs?"

Super Speed Master #3A big shaft drives. Yes Merc Drives, they made the speedmaster line for years and years for the bigger HP equipped boats where the TRS and Bravo drives would not hold up and would blow apart right away. So the SSM 3A drives were a great drive and still are. Konrad drives are making direct replacements for them and replacement parts as well so getting them repaired is not a problem. Props are interchangeable from #3a, 4, 5, 6 drives so I have an easy time finding props
