  • This song is still so amazing. These guys never get old. What timeless music. When will the remastered version finally get released???

  • @bplowefl Thanks for your comment ! You're right, it's a timeless music. Why not a remastered version, on the condition of making as well as the original.

  • I've loved this song for years- so glad to come across it again. After all these years, I just found out tonight that Tommy Talton wrote "please be with me", made more popular by Eric Clapton.

  • @Bjanemcg Thanks for your comment. Agree with you, "message in the wind" and "please be with me" are marvelous songs by Tommy Talton and Scott Boyer.

  • @cyberties No problem. The Decoys on FB will connect you directly to Scott and all that's going on with him of late. There have been a couple of Cowboy reunion gigs in Macon and lots of other stuff. Keep my email to for future needs. I exec. produced The Decoys 1st CD "All My Friends" and have copies available.

  • @DONIVON1

Okay, thanks. I appreciate the information.

  • @cyberties The Best of Cowboy-A Different Time is the CD I referred to. You want your LPs on CD, then your best bet is to have them transferred by a professional. Lots of info on all these guys that's up to date can be found on FB. Search, The Decoys. All the help I can give at this point.

  • @DONIVON1

    Thanks, man.

I have the "Best of" CD, but 5 or 6 of the songs from this album (specifically Message in the WInd) are not on it. I have all of Cowboy's albums on LP with Reach for the Sky, Cowboy & Different Times: Best of Cowboy on CD.

  • @cyberties Good luck with that idea cyberties. A rerelease of a Best of Cowboy was done in the early "90's in limited quantities. I think I still have one or 2 copies of it. send me an email to the address listed just above here and I'll give you any help I can.

  • @DONIVON1

Can you get the record company to release this album on CD? It has to be one of the best albums EVER. But for some reason Capricorn ( or whatever Corporation owns their catalog now) won't or hasn't re-issued this album on CD. I have loved Cowboy since I first heard them on tour with The Gregg Allman Band in the early 70's. This song brings back some sweet memories of the beautiful lady who first turned me onto them. As good as it is to hear, this recording is overmodulated.

  • @Bjanemcg sorry but Tommy Talton did NOT write "Please be with me" Scott Boyer wrote that!

  • So glad the choir boy from St. Nicholas "reached for the sky"!!!! Way to go Scott!!!

  • @Bjanemcg I'm sorry to tell you Bjane, but Tommy didn't write Please be with me, Scott did. Check it out on Clapton's 461 Ocean Blvd. album. Just for the record, OK? I've been a Cowboy fan since the sixties. Scott used to be my roommate and Tommy is a friend. We all worked on the CD "All My Friends" by Scott Boyer and The Decoys at Johnny Sandlin's studio in Decatur, Al. Donivon1 More info available on that from bamadad04@msn.com
