The film relates the creation and birth process of Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina's new violin concerto. We follow the composer and her soloist Anne-Sophie Mutter's gradual approach to a new piece, culminating in the first performance at the Lucerne Festival with Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic.
