Tina in Huntsville, AL $25K Home Depot Contest

I've been getting a lot of questions about our situation, so I'll elaborate a little more. This video is a SHORT description of SOME of the termite damage we found when we started fixing up our house we bought in May. Our Realtor knew that there were active termites but never told us. Then, she didn't even show up at the closing.. hmmm..wonder why?

As for the termite company - well, I've come to find that they had conflicting reports concerning infested areas and treated areas of the house. I had to get the Dept. of Ag after them before they'd treat the house right!

Needless to say, we tried to find some way to make the parties involved liable, but apparently we signed all of our rights away at the closing and it'll be too costly and take too long to go to court. Lucky suckers. Gotta love the fine print.

My story is kind of similar, but it's my own fault for not getting a home inspection. Did you guys get a home inspection before purchasing?

It sucks that it costs too much money to bring bad people to justice. At the very least, you should buy some stink bombs at the novelty store and deposit them in the realtor's office.

We had a...get this... TERMITE INSPECTION done! LOL. They found "no visible damage" according to their report. They also didn't treat the entire house, just part of it. So not only would I like to stink bomb the realtors office, but also the termite company!

You should definitely pursue the people who sold you that house without forthcoming about those termites. Perhaps you can rent an ant eater?

Luckily, the termites are all dead now so I don't need to find an ant eater.... just need to find a lot of money and a really good handyman to help me out!

Very good video. I know this family and this is a true necessity. They are hard working people but do need Home Depot's help due to extensive damage. Good Luck. I hope you win!
