  • THANK YOU for this. Constant need for external validation is why so many people, regardless of race and hair texture, are unhappy in general. When it comes to black women and hair, I like to think that naturals -- those who aren't hung up on texture and/or length, who accept and love their hair for what it can and can't do, who aren't paying attention to the media, who don't apologize for not being just like everyone else -- are leading a paradigm shift. Our daughters will be the beneficiaries!

  • Thank you everyone for your positive responses! And yes LBellatrix, our daughters WILL be the beneficiaries! Can you imagine, a whole generation of little girls growing up completely in love with their hair? I can't wait! :)

  • Thank YOU !! I'm tired of "some" natural women looking for validation. There will always be someone that has something bad to say, no matter what you do. Why be a slave to their opinions? Steer from negative people and do you :) Let them deal with their issue.

Its about time someone made a video like this.

I'm tired of these validation seeking vids.

  • I'm so torn I'm sitting here watchin a bunch of natural hair videos onyoutube and its reminding me y i decided to go back natural, however everytime I get my hair done at the salon or if someone else like a friend or even family sometimes they want to relax mt hair, I know it would be easier to manage cuz my natural hair thick long and curly all together so it takes alot of work to care 4 I have been natural 4 almost 10 yrs now I dnt know if i should go bac to relaxers

  • When my daughter started school at 5 all the other brown girls had straight hair be it natural or not and they teased her for her curls. We straightened it for 2 years until it fell out. When it grew back I asked if she wanted it straight still and she said yes. I didnt realise that her hair "hatred' was mostly coming from home. My mother is mixed with 3b hair i am 4a/4b we both used to get relaxers every month. When her hair fell out i did a bc and never looked back. We are both H.T.B.N

  • @LBellaTrix & HighlyTextures that's why I'm bringing my lil girl up to love her now the way it is so hopefully we she's older she doesn't feel like she have to straighten her. It can just be and option

  • BEAUTIFUL. you have no idea what you just did for my esteem...now i'm gonna go pass on the message :)

  • i love this video! I have to admit that when i first did my bc i felt insecure. Society, ppl, advertisement all try to mold black women into how their hair "should look" long and straight. It wasn't until i accepted that i'm beautiful, different and unique that my joy, self esttem and confidence began. I validate me as beautiful, strong, and capable. I am beautiful and so is my hair, kinky and curly! Listen to the positive and ignore the negative!

  • Natural hair will be accepted when black people choose to accept it. I can tell you from almost 4 years natural that black people are the only ones with an issue regarding my hair. If other races don't like it, they sure do hide it well.

  • Right this shouldnt be a question...Accept yourself the way you are and you'll be accepted. Be confident. Confidence is key because you can't be a natural and still fear what others are thinking about you.

  • You speak truth!

  • I think society has accepted us. Whenever i see a black women in a commercial, she is natural (locs, braids, fros, curly hair, etc) 99%. The only time i don't see a natural woman is in a relaxer commercial. SO they are putting images of natural blacks out there, which is awesome.

  • Right on sis!
