what's with the closing of the lid of the 202 while the record is playing? Usually you have the lid open. Does it improve the sound quality when it's shut?

LOL. There's actually a decal on the lid which says "Close lid whilst playing". It cuts down on surface noise hiss & high end frequencies from the soundbox. Usually I don't worry about it, but this record has really bad surface noise, so I did.
