Thanks for posting this video! I tried doing this yesterday but it doesn't work for me unless I lift the outer clear bottle a little. No vacuum/siphon is created until I lift it a bit... Any idea why? One other thing to note is that my drain pipe below the grow bed is straight down, there's no elbow and additional piping...

@Clicklc1500 If you were to put the medium straight in yes it would crush the bottle. If you look at some of my other videos you will notice we put a PVC tube around the siphon to keep the clay/stones away. Thanks for the question.

fantastic! is exactly what I was looking for. I am trying to not use PVC or other toxic plastics. I aslo thought in make the grow beds and fish tanks with expoxi or polyester resin witht glass fiber but they are also toxic and is not easy to find these resins for alimentary purposes. Same problems with plastic membranes... the only type that I could buy is EPDM.... Also I will make the plumbig with reticuate ployethylene and brass pieces.

@MultiIncredulo Thanks for the response. Just be careful with the brass fitting as I think the can effect the fish? As a general rule you should try to keep all metal out of the system. So I have read.

@ScalerWave Hi, thanks for your question. I used hot glue from a hot glue gun to join the PVC to the bottle. Just keep pouring it in till it's all filled up.
