24 year old Australian violinist Richard Pollett performing the second movement of Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto Op 14 in the Grand Final of the 2010 ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra | Richard studied with Michele Walsh at the Queensland Conservatorium, Massimo Quarta at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana and Paul Wright at the Australian National Academy of Music | He was a 3 time string finalist in the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year awards -- reaching the Grand Final in 2010 | Richard was tragically killed on the 27th September 2011 in a bicycle accident, in his home town of Brisbane | http://bit.ly/puTEMa | He was aged just 25 years old | He leaves behind his parents Patricia and Phillip | A memorial award has been established by Richard's family and close friends in association with the Australian Youth Orchestra to honour his memory: http://bit.ly/nPX5Yj | May he rest in peace and his talent not be forgotten
