The first of three excerpts from the 2010 Nov 10 performance by the Austin Philharmonic Orchestra of my "Fantasia for Viola and Orchestra". The soloist is Clark Potter (to whom the work is dedicated) and the conductor is David Oertel. The Austin Philharmonic is a non-auditioned community orchestra. The recording was made in St. Matthew's Episcopal church, Austin, Texas, USA. The video starts a few minutes into the Fantasia.

The Fantasia was inspired by a spring visit to the cathedral city of Ripon in Yorkshire, England, and to the nearby Studley Park and ruins of Fountains Abbey.

The complete Fantasia can be heard at: http://incolor.inebraska.com/gaskell/compose.html and the orchestral score can also be downloaded from the same web site.
