I just read about this brother passing away. this was the first Gil Scott-Heron piece that I heard, and it stuck with me. RIP.

I remember a concert the Netherlands 1986 the Hague where the audience didn't react the way he wanted , the musicians stopped AT ONCE in a very musical way,,,as I'm not a musician I cannot repeat it

I'm from Johannesburg south africa. This track was made in support of the struggle against the apartheid regime in a time when Johannesburg was the centre of many political uprisings. A true revolutionary. You will be missed bra.

Thanks SO much for the comment. My father tell me about he protest apartheid and was really inspired by Gil Scot Heron when he was in college. Music like this should be made today; more politically conscious and with great soul. I hope any revolutions, physical, spiritual, or emotional going on in Johannesburg are going well. Again, thanks a lot for the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the incredible power of this song.
