Brendan Gallagher Farewell at The Beachcomber

Brendan J. Gallagher, 74, of Quincy MA, died Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Milton Hospital surrounded by his family after a long illness. "The Big BG, A Movie Star". A lifelong friend, butcher, floor installer and milk man, Brendan was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandpa. Brendan also was fondly known as the "Mayor of North Quincy." Brendan was a faithful, honest, hardworking man. Family was the most important thing to him. He always strived to keep family together and was the cement to the foundation. Brendan will always be remembered and dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have come into his life. Brendan is survived by his beloved wife, Kris (Bingham) Gallagher of Quincy. Devoted father of Gail Bennett of Attleboro, Joseph, James, Debra and John, all of Quincy, Catherine Walsh of South Boston, Christine Sheehan of Quincy and Jennifer Fay of Quincy. Brother of John Gallagher of MD. Brendan was predeceased by his parents, William and Charlotte (Joyce) Gallagher. He was also the brother of the late Maeve Sargent, Francis X., William T., James B., Thomas Gallagher and Margaret Cook. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Brendan was also a favorite son of the Galway to Boston Joyce clan. Under a full police escort his motorcade and scally capped pallbearers brought Brendan to an overflowed St. Annes Church funeral service. He was laid to rest at Pine Hills Cemetery and there was a day long celebration of his life attended by young and old at The Beachcomber on Wollaston Beach.
