This is our second post on YouTube with the Topsy Turvy. Everything is going well except for the strawberries. As I feared, after checking out other videos here, I caught the bug and this morning I forced my wife into the car and off to the local nursery we went. Down the aisles I ran tossing supplies into the cart as I pulled her behind me....hangers, pots, Miracle Gro w/ Moisture Control and of course more vegetables. We got home and immediately started cutting the centers out of the containers, putting up the hangers and began planting. Hope you enjoy our video and if anyone has any advice or suggestions, please feel free to post them. Thanks for watching!

  • I really like your upside down garden but I was just wondering how you put the plants upside down in the containers.

  • @1228Jeremy first thing i do is cut a 2" diameter hole in the bottom. I then take a coffee filter and cut one slice from the outside edge to the center (it will kinda look like a ms. pacman). put the seedling down thru the hole with the rootball in the container. put the coffee filter between the rootball and the container to keep soil from coming out. fill the rest of the container with your soil and you have it! thanx for watching and asking!

  • I tried these last year (2010). Not sure about this method. Had a good crop, but the tomatoes lacked flavor. In normal growing the rain/water (and thus the nutrients) flows down to the roots. With this method, the water and nutrients leach and drain away from the roots and flows out of the container and on to the ground below. Upside down is a very interesting idea, and looks good, but the fruit and vegetables do not taste too good. I would like to hear other views.

  • @Scholargypsies Appreciate your opinion. I only plant them like this as I have a small back yard and they are easy to maintain. Do you have any vids uploaded? Once again, thanks for commenting.

  • @MissVillainess I had NO success with watermelon. Pls let me know how you do!!
