@joejoesatchimo - thanks for the feedback. This is a partial on purpose hence the use of the hooks. ROM is textbook stuff but not real world stuff. Full ROM is definately needed but not on EVERY lift! If you want to improve your full ROM do heavy partials with a weight 25-35 % heavier than usual and then go back to full ROM and you'll see what I mean. Thanks though ;)

@marguisil . Thanks mate - there appears to be one brain amongst 100 neanderthals and you have it :) The purpose of the hooks is so you can use a heavier weight - more than usual and create an overload effect and CNS shock far greater than a lighter weight with perfect form and full ROM.

@11cory - the hooks are u shaped and the dumbbell sits in it and then velcro wraps form a hand pad around the dumbbell too,
