Filmed at the 2008 Sports & Classics of Monterey Auction on August 16th, 2008. This was the second-to-last car to be shown on Saturday night - a 1954 Kaiser Darrin which, if I remember right, was supposed to be one of two like it in existence. When the car was brought on stage to be sold, a large amount of steam began seeping from underneath the hood. Turns out it was just a hose under the hood that had come loose and dumped water all over everything. Though the car wound up being sold for $96,250 (within its estimate range of $90,000 - $120,000), this still isn't the kind of thing you want to happen while displaying your car for auction. . .
Unfortunately sir, there were 435 of these beautiful cars made and luckily over 400 still exist. Would love to own one, but doubt I ever will... Good video.
