93-year-old Lenore Groundwater being interviewed after being crowned Queen of the Silver Salmon Sisterhood in Valdez. Groundwater caught a 16.58 pound silver salmon to win the derby. There were 789 participants in the one-day event.

I loved it when Mrs. Groundwater came into the Totem the next morning for breakfast. Someone in the restaurant yelled, "There she is!" and the whole place erupted in applause and cheers. It was a wonderful moment.
