It takes just a second. We put the car in reverse, check the road, the mirrors, and start to back up.

But do we really know what's right behind us?

The number of backover fatalities is going up as is the number of large vehicles.

In the next couple of years the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration will look at ways to increase safety around vehicles.

The NHTSA may look at making alarms, bigger mirrors, or cameras mandatory on all new cars.
