@intheshitter Sadly that's the only logical conclusion.
"Crime" has been a favourite with fiction writers for many decades if not centuries however the volume of it which hits our screens can't simply be explained as a factor of supply and demand. Stories of crimes being punished goes some way to making people feel safe, it is sought by the audience at least to some degree for this feeling. However there are without doubt people who push this stuff to support their own nefarious agenda.
