Nicholas Azzopardi alleges police brutality while being interrogated in a cell at the Floriana depot. Here he releases a brief statement after regaining his senses 13 days after the incident. He died on Tuesday 22 April.

What happened was that I received a phone call on Tuesday evening to go to the Depot in Floriana. She had arrived before me with her mother, and the girl was taken up with PS24.

At that point I saw none of them. The kids, I didn't see any of them because... with my mother-in-law and the girl, and I went downstairs and I was beaten black and blue.

Once this vid came out and he was no longer in a coma he was transferred to a normal ward and basically had less care and was left to die . . .massive cover up - everything done in a hurry so that his truth would not be heard - good thing his brother took this vid secretly! I hope they will clear this mans name and have justice!

@joy2559 no, you're wrong...of course there are bad things in Malta, just as there are in other places...police abuse is not endemic to Malta...beatings and killings by police are rampant all over the world, unfortunately...and btw it would be nice if once in a while someone had the sense to talk about certain issues without using them to promote stereotypification...such videos are posted everyday showing these things happening in the US, France, Greece...
