I have a book with very light staining only on the fore edge: will this work--and is it safe for me to try to do it myself? Thanks.

Hopefully I can now remove the grass stain from my hamlet book -_-. I dropped it on the way to the bus and just started swearing because I had bought it the day before.

Molly, we all appreciate your work and advice. Watching your videos has helped me so much. Do you recommend asorbene or something like that? I need to find a way to get rid of a few high-lighting and some small pen marks in some books. I also have a lot of frayed "bumped" corners on books that could look like new. What can I do? I'll stop my questions now... Thanks again.

I can't hear. What kind of sanding paper is that? If it's a specific product, can you write and tell me what it is? Are these things I can find at general craft stores? Thank you.

Molly, do you have any tips on removing pen, stamp markings etc from the fore-edge? Is the same process effective?

Hello, Molly, I truly appreciate your many videos on book repair and conservation, thank you! I am just learning right now.
I didn't get any sound on this one, it would have helped a bit I think.
Question: some of my books suffer from those little gray-brown spots on the top and foredges, the most likely culprit being humidity (maybe a fungus?). Is there some chemical (or mechanical action) out there which I could apply safely to eliminate or at least diminish them? Sergio

not unless the book is moldy. which you can generally smell ahead of time.

Is the object to clean off dust? aren't you taking off the original color applied to the pages?

no, that's not color...THAT's dirt and lots of it. If there is color applied to the text block, use a toothbrush. different tools for different tasks.

oh please...it's not like you are going to do that to a 'valuable' book. but you can indeed give a nice facelift to a moderately priced book. and denying it can or is being done is naive.
