@Xxsoon2bxX The first evokes a sense of yearning, while the second is more contented, calmed.

Sowing Season is one of my favourite Brand New songs, and I think that they should've put both songs on their album! Both are beautiful and should be treated as two separate songs, not just two separate versions.
-
they should have refurbished this and swapped it with sowing season

@finalyover agreed :)

@Snack314 and the 'demo' acoustic sound it has just makes it all the more emotional!

Damn. I haven't listened to this song in years but I always find myself singing the lines to this song, even though I don't know half the lyrics. And then I'm not even sure which song I'm singing, I had to look through my external for this demo album and this song specifically. It's just that awesome. And no one ever would give this song a chance except a Brand New fan. Equally tragic and awesome

dang it. I hate when I find meaning in brand new's songs but it wasnt the intended meaning. for example I thought he was describing a person, Leo, who was in general a good man. he had to bury his children which i thought was demonstrating the injustice of life but, being a good man, fought in the war. I thought Jesse saying "I dropped the bomb" was a way of him saying he has a tendency to hurt good people which in a way is a very dark concept.
BUT I WAS WRONG :'(!

@Greeb what did he say the meaning was?

Leo Lacey was Jesse's grandpa, he was to be in the 1st wave of American troops to invade Japan, but at the last minute, Truman decided to drop the a-bomb. So, Leo came home which was great, because of something terrible that happened (the bombing). Its a very dualistic song...
i think this is better than sowing season actually. lyrically it's so much better. this song gives me the chills sometimes, how Jesse sings "Slippin' out the back, in the pouring rain" and "But he loved his wife, loved her and was faithful to her always, buried both the kids in the summer sun" is amazing. This is my favorite demo out of the 9. It's so emotional, i love it.

it just fits more.
