@MsKarebear10 The Sony Digital8 cameras (circa 1999) will produce digital output when playing Video8, Hi8 or Digital8 tapes. You can connect the camera to your PC through a Firewire 400 cable and capture directly into Windows MovieMaker or Mac iMovie.

my temp files were corrupted or not decoded because the tape was interrupted. NO solution could be found. SO I can not access the files. Nice. Do you have any suggestions on getting my Hi8 tapes to dvd? Thanks

This is horribly misleading: please take down so more meaningful videos can be found. Tells us nothing about transferring 8mm to dvd :P
