The strobe light allows to stop the motion of rotation so a visual inspection of the coupling can be done even with the alternator shaft rotating at 1800 rpm.

  • @larrysbk There are 3 radial lines on the coupling that you can see @00:07 and @00:37. Depending on the wear on the coupling those lines are going to move due to the torsion, if to much it is time to change it before it fails. We also check for broken bolts and the general condition of the rubber.

  • What do you look for when you do these insoections? What are the signs of trouble?
