'Songs of the Auvergne ' sung by Janette Miller are an up to date version of the traditional French folk songs. Sung in English with a modern orchestral arrangement the 'Songs' simply make you 'feel good'.
Full of love of life and vitality, the quirky, witty lyrics come as a surprise as they are usually only sung in the original Auvergne patois which is not understood nowadays. These songs make you feel young! About 18!
The album is available from the iTunes Store worldwide.
The original orchestrations were made by Joseph Canteloube. It took him 40 years and were eventually published in the early1920's.
This rework was made in New Zealand by Janette Heffernan using modern 'midi' applications.
It is sung by Janette Miller who was a 'favourite' of Benjamin Britten. He used to enjoy accompanying her in public and private as he said one day she would be a fine Lieder/Song singer. He appreciated that she always sang in English as she wanted to do justice to the lyrics and enjoyed listening to her fresh, natural voice and original interpretations.
Soon each song will have it own music video.
