Matter is wave energy e=mc^2=hc/lambda
m being the mass of what ever you want to have a wavelength ( lambda)
Sound is just one form energy with a long enough wavelength to be common enough at energies that arise in the world of animals for animals to evolve an organ to measure it.
Much like light and even the perception of matter as being "different" from other forms of wave energy

@JmeisterJ We don't know what gravity is, or what a gravity particle (graviton) is made of. For all we know, we are actually being held together by a symphony of frequencies. Everything does resonate a frequency, sound is very powerful. Sound is caused by vibration, and vibrations can reverberate and even change the shape of things judging on it's dB level. Who knows what role this plays on a deeper level

pretty sure the thing holding galaxies together is gravity. and the patterns are being formed in the sand because the antinodes when the plate vibrates displaces the sand and it sits and the nodes which have a displacement of zero.
