Rare 1979 re-release trailer for Howard Hawks' gangster classic, produced by Howard Hawks and written by Ben Hecht. Featuring great performances by Paul Muni, George Raft, Ann Dvorak, Karen Morley, and Boris Karloff. Incredibly controversial upon it's initial release, and banned in several states in the 30s. Still a great film.
Al Capone tried to get screenwriter Hecht to drop the project, until Hecht, a Chicago news veteran, convinced a few of Capone's hired thugs the movie wasn't about him. Capone reportedly had a private print of the film and watched it often.
The 1983 film of the same name is a loose remake of this one.
