How to Fix GeForce 6200 Video Cards Yourself

If your video went out and you have one of these cards, chances are that capacitors blew out from being too close to the heat sink. This video shows you how to tell if this is the problem and also shows how to replace the capacitors with new capacitors from Radio Shack.

Yes. The price of new video cards has come down very much in recent years, and you can get many that are better than the GeForce for a $15 or $20.

The capacitors are probably the problem. Bad caps and other components can work when warm but not when cold. You can get a can of freeze spray at Radio Shack or other places, spray it on the caps with computer running, and if video goes out after you spray, you know its the capacitors.

any integrated graphics today is at least 3 times as powerful as this junk, even intel HD 3000

FYI just for some future reference you should buy a solder pump which would help on removeal and also when your soldering you dont actually touch the solder to the pen you heat up the capacitor legs and hold the solder to the leg and it will flow right over the hole. would also help if you dip the legs into some flux which will make it easier and also faster but do make sure you clean up the flus afterwards

be careful the smoke from the solder is toxic
