Sun EPA 115.Issued by the Sun label in 1961.The Sun EP series started 1957 w. Jerry Lee Lewis as Sun EPA #107.Totally four EP's(#107-110) issued w J.L.L.#111-114 w. Johnny Cash. And this here shown #115 w. Carl Perkins. The two last issues in the serie is #116-117 by J. Cash.Rumours says that Sam Phillips already 1956 started the EP serie w. Johnny Cash as Sun EPA #101-103, but they were never issued, even #104-106 w. Jerry Lee Lewis stayed as unissued. All these issued EP's have very beautiful covers.About this here shown EP w. Carl Perkins doing his fantastic tune Movie Magg. This song was already released in Feb. 1955 but on Sun's beside label Flip (Flip 501 Movie Magg/Turn Around) That is the absolutely first ever Carl Perkins record that came out from 706 Union Avenue. Sam's oppinion with the Flip label was to put out C&W and Hillbilly artist on it, and use the Sun label for the Blues and Rock And Roll artists.Carl's first issue on the yellow Sun label is Sun#224- Let That Jukebox Keep On Playing/Gone Gone Gone.(Aug. 1955)And this is also to be seen here at my site.

  • I've always loved the way Perkin's could emulate steel guitar on the song breaks. The lead style is Similar to Ernest Tubb's lead Guitarist (Billy Byrds) jazzy style. I've always loved the way Perkins could emulate the steel guitar (both lap & pedal). During the first guitar break, it goes from Byrd style to an emulated Steel guitar style
