To anyone who doesn't know, Native Son is the original lyrics to Vertigo, based on Leonard Peltier. Leonard Peltier's story is very controversial.

purely great!!

fantastic, really great!
but one mistake: the part from 1:23 sings The Edge, not Bono :'D
but still great

this song is just as good as vertigo and maybe better

I think as a title & lyric concept Native Son was too... worthy, maybe? to be a real single. Vertigo is throwaway but meaningful, and I think the riff is more awesome on Vertigo. Not that I dislike Native Son, but Vertigo is in my top 10 U2 songs so I am biased. ;)

excelente trabajo!

I agree with others here that Native Son is a superior song to Vertigo. I don't understand why they dropped it. The way the song slides into the final chorus from that long drawn out "freeeeee" from Bono is purely awesome.
I must say that Native Son is better than Vertigo,

Native Son was the original song before Bono changed it to Vertigo. It is based on true events where a Native American, Leonard Peltier was wrongly convicted for the murder of 2 FBI agents during a standoff on a Lakota reservation. He is still in prison to this day trying to get out. He's been locked up since 1975.
