@MalignantxNarcissism that sounds like addictive drums to me. if your looking at virtual drums, steven slate drums are definitley worth checking out, i think slate drums are better suited to the extreme stuff, they are less boomy and have a sharp warm sound. i got a few metal demos i made with slate drums on my page. if you want to know how they sound in metal have a listen. they are demo quality, im new to recording and mixing. the kit i use is called "cracky metal kit"

what kind of drum machine do you use?

@MorkaGraven Loads of subgenres, are basicly just small changes in rhytm technique. And since, we all do not want to sound alike, and make each song different, its quite lame, to box music into "selfinvented terms" You are both right, in some way. Some of it is important, but theese days, genres have gone out of bound!

@LEMONS4R3PRETTYGOOD Subgenres ARE relevant. Just because it's "all metal" has little to do with an an individuals preferences. This comes down to tone, tempo, song structure and other compositional techniques.
