I retired my G2 and both bulb types long ago, because of nothing more than battery usage and bulbs having the ability to blow when you least expect them. Fenix are veru high quality lights, AND they have new versions coming out within a couple weeks or so. So stay tuned to the websites.

Yeah, I had a concern about that for my g2 that I had second thoughts about installing a cree 225 lumen bulb on it. I think I'll buy a fenix. I love surefire, I like how it's made in america, but at some point, I need something more bang for the buck. I heard jetbeam is a little better than fenix, so I'll do some more research before I buy a new one and retire my g2.

I'm finding it hard to make out which is the brightest and has the best throw in this, as the camera auto adjusts the exposure? does the P3D win over the G2 for brightness and throw? I've heard xenon's throw a beam better than LED's, that right?

What would you recomend for self defense (ie. temporary night blindness)? Surefire with P61 or Fenix? It's hard to tell from the vid, which is best for throw and brightness: G2/P61 or P3D? Can you access turbo mode instantly with button only?

i heard you got to be carefull with the p61 bulb for the g2 because there are some report that the lexan lens melt from the heat

Very helpful. Thanks for doing this.
I think if you dont mind battery life draining before your eyes, the surefire has a broad spectrum beam, making it hit all the right places in the eye!, but if you want a light that you can use withought crying at your battery use, and can startle and blind someone, then the fenix is the way to go..
