Another one of these Frankenstein electricity deals, in which Frank attempts to send his application in by a Universal Horror-themed precursor to Harry Potter's postal service, only to be thwarted by the natural predeliction of bats to not be very clever, or to care about your stupid share offers. Originally sourced by Col2006ie.
Interestingly, this is from a commercial break shown in Northern Ireland, who, along with Scotland, didn't have their electricity business sold off (at that time). But, of course, they could still buy into ours. It's a free market after all. Hence the notable absence of the slogan "You Could Buy Into What You Plug Into" - because they couldn't in Northern Ireland (or Scotland), only what the English and Welsh plugged into. Scotland's electrics were privatised the following year, which was probably (but I'm speculating) promoted with redubbed versions of these adverts. In Northern Ireland it took a bit longer still.
I love the disclaimer: "THE VALUE OF SHARES CAN GO DOWN AS WELL AS UP."
