Afternoon flight in the Dragonfly. The engine was causing the camera to shake excessively, so I turned it off.

  • Hi Charlie, another Dragonflier here,

Charlie I notice you have some streamlining on front and monopole? Where did you get it?

Do you know if it akes any difference to the 'performance'?

Probably difficult to quantify, but it certainly looks good.

What happened with your engine? I have a 2008 175, and to my knowledge it had big end replaced. Very sweet at the moment.

    Cheers,

    Colin

  • @UltraLigero1 Colin, The fairings come from streamline.8k dot com/FAIRINGS.htm

I don't know how much drag reduction they provide, but every bit helps. My engine suffered a broken valve spring. The engine runs better than ever now. I continue to marvel at the fuel economy I get with it.

  • Hi Charlie,

I started out in hang gliders (Shenandoah Valley, VA) flying with Steve Wendt - Blue Sky Hang Gliding. Transitioned to Trikes back in 1999. Enjoy your videos. I think the Dragonfly is an awsome halfway point between flying trikes and hang gliding! Drop in for a visit if you find yourself in my part of Kentucky.

  • I must get a second camera. It makes a big difference when you can splice the different angles from the same flight. How have you got the front pole mount fixed? By the way the nylon collar on my wing keel extension has split - Ben's getting some new ones in case it becomes common.

I never noticed the winding river in your other videos.

  • Thanks for info. Yes I went 60 miles from Newbury to Sandown, I.O.W on 7 litres in 3 1/2 hours (strong headwind) that's 2 litres/ hr. Ridiculous!. I love the engine, I also fly with a Rotax 912s. I wish it was as sweat as the Bailey. I change my oil every 10 hours. I don't have external filter, and its only 1/2 litre, so blow the expense ;-).

    Cheers,

    Colin

  • Hi Charlie,

What a great afternoon for flying. I'm going up in the morning after the fog clears here in the Pacific Northwest. Looking forward to viewing your other videos and for the upcoming ones, too.

Thanks for subscribing to my channel this morning. Have yourself a great weekend.
