"Night And Day" was composed by Cole Porter in 1932 and he says he was inspired to write the song when he heard an "Islamic call to worship"on a visit to Morocco. The song was introduced by Fred Astaire in the musical "Gay Divorce" in 1932 and reprised by him in the film version of the stage play renamed "Gay Divorcee" in 1934. Hundreds of artists have recorded it including this up-tempo version by Steve Lawrence.
