@mae2759 I would imagine its because now there is more commercial time for shows and that would take up time where as without an intro you could give it to the show. Now they just credit the actors/actresses during the beginning of the show. Heck now they squish the credits to the bottom of the screen so they can put in show advertisements.

@RockDave88 Lame ...the bass version of the theme is way better--it is so funky...and is cool how Alf joins them in the photo at the end.
