  • so those grubs works good on small mouths? can you still use topwater baits like, buzzbait and popper? im going to the boundry water on july 23rd thanks

  • Day in and day out, grubs are the best for smallies for me. Tubes and poppers can be very effective also. I would bring them all!

  • you ever fish ely, basswood lake? namtkd1 ????

we kill smallmouth on live crawlers hooked once, i will try the jigs this year when we head up north to bwca

  • I haven't fished Basswood Lake yet. It's my goal to get up there! I will remember to bring live crawlers. Good luck with the jigs!

  • Hey what brand of grubs are those? Going up to bwca in may... woo hoo. Thanks

  • All of the curly tails are from Mister Twister. However, they have discontinued the 5" curly tail grub. But you can get pretty much the same results with other brands such as Berkley, Bass Pro Shops, Kalin's, Kinami, etc. Good Luck! Let me know how you do.

  • @ThatTyGuy1 With curly tail grubs, I like to cast them out and let them sink to the bottom. Then start reeling steadily and every few turns just stop (or kill it). This will cause the grub to descend and most times the bass will grab it if they're following. Use the lightest jighead you can get away with.

  • HAHA! THANKS BRO!

  • Thanks for the reply. I will report back with good news! lol. I have been up there before but to Jackfish bay to catch Northern. However we did catch some nice smally on spinners.

  • Thanks again for the info. The curly tail grub was a winner. Can't wait to go back!
