Westinghouse traction elevator @ 213 South Jefferson Roanoke VA

I was with some fine folks from the Roanoke times who were doing a story on me and I was able to photograph this elevator. On the way out, we were confronted by a security guard who informed us that photography was not allowed and THIS VIDEO was NOT to be posted without permisson of Carilion. HOW WRONG HE WAS!!! the building is NOT owned by Carilion and is an office building that is OPEN to the PUBLIC with space ANYONE can lease.

213 South Jefferson is owned by Hall Associates Real estate which if you are interested in leasing some space in this fine building, why not contact them. It is a nice builidng. http://www.hall-realtor.com/ there is a photo of the building on their homepage.

My experience here is just another sad example of how paranoid America has become in this post 9/11 era.

If 9/11 didn't happened:

1. There won't be any videos of [censored] experience getting kicked out.

2. Most malls/department stores will allow photography.

3. There would be an another place to film elevators, World Trade Center.

4. Photography will be allowed on public places.

That was WRONG of the guard to confront you and the Roanoke Times about filming. The description says it all. Public building means public building. It's good you were able to post it.

terrible elevator it only did 16 levels in 41 seconds the one in my massive house does 30 levels in 24 seconds

It just reminds me how much the United States has evolved, from freedom and paradise to surveillance land. The government has traded our freedom for security that is not needed. 9/11 could have been prevented if they had some common sense and sealed the cockpits, beefed up the airport security. And guess what, they blamed us for it. And now they think everybody is a terrorist. The only mistake they learned from was the Patriot Act (repealed 2002) which was simply contrary to the Bill of Rights!!

They are not. they are not even allowed to have you delete your content!!!! it is YOUR pictures, and without a court order they cant even look at them..

Security guards are NOT allowed to even look at your camera let alone take your film or card!!!!! I have studied various laws pertaining to this .. a security guard has NO MORE power than you or me. ALL THEY CAN DO if they catch you taking pictures is ASK YOU TO LEAVE. they can not, I REPEAT can NOT take your camera or film or card
