  • Sorry guys, I get a bit defensive over it! It's just that in over twenty years of working, this really is one of the BEST places I have worked at. They give us a pension for pete sake! and we have also a 401K! We get to lease cars for our family at low rates - we can even lease one for teenage drivers - insurance included! The people I work with are all positive, and proud of "the car" we get love when we see one on the road, we know we had a part of making them! And VW's are FUN to drive!

  • @leobercovich - read what @mgltraveler had to say. He's on target. Did you know that this plant is the ONLY LEED Platinum Automotive factory in the US? Look at the aerial shots - see all those forested areas around the plant? that's VW also. See the two creeks that go around the plant? VW restored those so that the wildlife had a place to live. We have live deer walking around grazing on grass at the plant! Look for the videos about VW and their commitment to the environment here.

  • @TheHazeGuy Most assuredly, the VW was clearly a leading part of post-war (West) Germany's "economic miracle" and why not?

  • I remember when it was announced that Honda Accords were going to be made in the US and the American consumer almost shit a brick out of fear of the potential of a decline in quality.

The justly famed "Consumer Reports" magazine assured its readers that a Honda Accord made in the USA is just as good as one made in Japan and the same goes for ALL foreign brands of autos made in the USA; all the foreign car companies have nothing but the highest respect for American workers.

  • Elvis hätte heute auch einen VW

  • @Kfio1 building a VW is not just building a car this company made germany to one of the most powerful countries in the world

  • @70Bozu

I voiced my opinion, based on the facts that I know. Doesn't mean I'm right nor wrong.

  • @70Bozu

They are the ones running the place. They are the ones working 80-90 hours a week and not getting paid. They have to fix all the problems that everyone else makes. What does any of the things you listed have to do with them getting screwed over? Its not their fault. Its the ones who are actually being lazy, and don't know what they're doing.

Typical Americans? Really? Just because there might be a label on how Americans are, doesn't mean we're all that way.

  • nice facility

  • @SBain3

Maybe your friends don't measure up to VW employee standards. How are we to know if you have any basis for comparison? They should be thankful to have a well-paying job.

By the way, are they smokers? Big break-takers? Lazy? Uneducated? Typical Americans? No wonder.....

  • No offense but this place is awful! My husband works there and its ridiculous. They treat their workers like crap. They do nothing but screw them over left and right. I live in a house that has 4 people working there and they are all miserable. They all hate it. Not to mention what it does to your social life. It takes it away completely. VW is a good car company and all, but they really need to work on how they treat their employees.
