Why is the blk race so threatening? Why are we the MOST TALKED ABOUT RACE? Why is our progress so studied, researched, watched and document? We take 2 steps forward but pushed 5 steps backwards. Public schools are structured so that alot of blk children are not interested in learning or even attending school. Teachers have told me personally that the curriculum is not setup to correctly teach blk students and it is not the curriculum they are satisfied in teaching.

@mssquirrely well I believe why we're one of the most talked about races is because we've been through so much here in America. We've somehow perpetuated the struggle of Blacks through conversations discussing who's still holding us back and why we're doign so bad. Dr. Asa Hilliard, who used to instruct at Georgia State University, informs us that we always talk so negatively about Blacks instead of talking about our successes. I'm also pursuing the vocation of teaching middle school and

@mssquirrely I agree, the curriculum isn't designed for Black students. It is designed loosely on a Euro-centric rubric of educational excellence and on the ideal American educated student. We must learn to become culturally responsive people but not let our struggles define our futures and get with the program of progression. Proving yourself from your race to others is a lost cause.

@bkennyg The reason why black people are the most talked about , the most watched, is because they know that we are not REALLY inferior. If a race is inferior then you don't have to use tricks, and racist discrimination to keep them down. NO. They look at ancient Egypt,etc,etc, and FEAR the progress of black people.

When you have enabled others to be successful then you have something to fall back on - if you bottom out - there will be others that can lift you and restore you. @mssquirrely Also, media convinces blk american youth to become interested in worthless things. I remember I was grabbing a quick lunch one day in early 2009, eager to get back to my desk. Lehman had gone. The credit markets were melting down all around us. The table next to me had a group of young blk Americans in heated debate over Chris Brown and Rihanna. Hearing that built my confidence; I went back to the office, went long 80 ESM09 contracts and shortcovered 4 million shares citi.

@bkennyg - Yes we have been through much however, I am not oblivious to the reasons/causes. Our plight then and now is being discussed all over YT in not so positive ways. My comment was merely an answer to one of the possibilities to the problems faced by the inner-city youth. In asking all the WHY's in my previous comment, is merely out of AMAZEMENT not necessary looking for an answer.

@bkennyg - It's never a lost cause to point out the fact that the public educational system in prodominently blk community is a failure, which way the drop out rate is so horrific amongst blk teens. As a member of my childs parents school board, I have stressed this several times only to be drowned out with (ohhh you're being over sensitive or this is the best we're going to get) I don't agree with such nonsense.
