A 9 step manual train track switch on the Mount Washington Cog railroad. It is the most complicated switch in the world. The moving parts weigh 200lbs

  • I hope to go back up the mountain and will take an HD camcorder to record the switch and more in HD detail.

  • And they all have to be turned in this order as well...? Nice work.

  • yes they do. I hope to go up again and film it in HD. Stay tuned

  • yep, thats my family

  • wow did I film someone in your family?

  • Wonder what you were confused by. Mostly just a matter of memorizing the steps to do to convert the track by moving parts around. It is amazing.

  • @Bassotronics Every Cog railway I've ever seen had complicated switches. Its due to the rack rail needing to be there as well.

  • @badgerfan2674 I would like to see you get a car to operate on the grades these things are designed to work on......

  • theres 10

  • @badgerfan2674 big negative on both of those things, trains can go just as fast, if not faster. Check out the bullet trains. Also, as for the 9 steps to turn, only on cog tracks like this. Normal rails can be switched with a button.

  • i always wondered how a cog railway switch looked like not to mention operate...thanks for post this vid..its really something how they figured out how to get it all to work...i got lost for a sec after step 3..lol..awsome vid just amazing!!

  • there is something called cars that go faster and don't need to do 9 things to turn

  • What ever happend to the standard switch with a frog?

  • ok it's switched pay me now......

  • @NKP514 Oh. Thanks, NKP.

Wish the camcoder had been zoomed to see the more distant details at thend.
