Stapleford Volunteering

Two years ago Emily Hutchinson began volunteering with severely disabled adults at The Getaway Club in Stapleford. The club offers a social evening for adults with learning disabilities. Emily tells her story and encourages other young people to get involved

I began working at the Stapleford Getaway Club when I was 16, I wanted to try and help other people.

On the way to my first session I was very nervous, I was working with adults with severe learning difficulties who were likely to be unpredictable and I didnt really know what to expect or how to prepare for it. But there was no need to worry.
