The genius of Rick and the other DJ's at Starck was that they knew every song didn't have to be 140 bpm to keep the energy level up. This mix is a example of 3 Starck classics around 100 bpm with energy to spare. The first is Life's What You Make It, the 1986 release from Talk Talk. A signature song of angst in the 80's: Shout by Tears For Fears follows. One of my favorite memories was dancing the night away at Starck after seeing them on stage at Reunion Arena during their 1985 Song's From The Big Chair concert tour. The final choice is yet another remake from the Temptations: Ball Of Confusion covered by Love And Rockets. The videos and audio were all remastered from the originals and various extended mixes.

I still remember Modern Music night at Mistral ... amazing music and amazing videos.
I would bug DJ -Greg Watton every 15 minutes with the question... who sings this?!?
Dang, that was 25 years ago ... good to know Greg is doing well in Fort Worth! Shout out Greg!

I first heard this song at Mistrals on tuesday nights when they had new wave night. I remember the flyer, it said You mean like Madonna? NO!
I went to Starck the summer of 85 for the first time. I have never been the same since. Ball of confution was the baddest assed song that year. I still have the 12 in. single I bought at Oak lawn records.
