  • I thought it had passed me by, but your video brought back many memories of my life there growing up. I was 2 when we moved to 146 Leander Road and left after I got married in 1969. I still have fond memories of the Bird of Paradise and the Chinese Tower. Both these sites became Council Estates, my wife coming from one of them, but when they were bomb sites they made amazing places to play, and fruitful scrumping grounds for me and my mates. I can't understand why THS lasted as long as it did.
