I know a lot of people think this is hilarious, but i find it more depressing and poignant... it shows Barry's inherent incivility and juvenile nature. He is mentally impaired in one way or another. He is paranoid, borderline dangerous, and likely bipolar.

In the end all he needed was love, love was his medicine and it fixed his soul. Lena was the answer to his problems, she forced him to face himself (which was represented metaphorically through the mattress man ordeal).
