Pointless 'Repeal Obamacare' Bill

"Apparently still unfazed by the Supreme Court's ruling, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., announced today that she introduced legislation into the new Congress to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act.

According to a report by CBS News in July, the then-33 unsuccessful attempts by House Republicans to repeal the law had used up around 80 hours of time in Congress, or two full work weeks, at a cost of around $48 million."*

Congress has been eager to get some new, impactful bills passed, including Michelle Bachman's latest bid to repeal Obamacare...which would of course be vetoed by President Obama. Cenk Uygur breaks down how this pointlessness wastes your money.

Obamacare is not nationalised health care, it is forced purchase of private health insurance, similar to car insurance. I think it is a terrible idea, and a national health service ensuring that every citizen has a right to life is a preferable option.

Out of curiosity, would you also refuse to pay the taxes that pay for police and fire-fighters, the soldiers that protect you, the roads that allow you to travel so freely?

Actually, he gets this wrong...its actually the thirty- SEVENTH bill the house has passed in complete futility to repeal this law. At a cost of around 55 million dollars, all for GOP grandstanding and wasting the House's time. MIchele outspent her opponent by a factor of 20 last time around and only narrowwly won, so she is starting her reeelection campaign just 6 months into her new term to avoid ouster next year.

You can complain about health insurance all you want, I'm not in favour of it, but you must surely see that your arguments can also apply to car insurance, social security, and all other 'National Insurance' type payments.

If you require medical attention and go to A&E without the ability to pay, then you are a burden on those who do pay insurance fees. Obamacare was a Republican proposal on the principal of personal responsibility.
