I think this commercial came out either 1978 or 1979. I ASSUME (I put that word in caps for a reason) when this commercial premiered, hairstyles like the Afro was played out and the Afro Sheen product line was declining in popularity.

I had a white lady tell me she used afro sheen during the 70's after her black friend introduced her to it in college. I guess her hair was pretty curly back then, and she needed something to maintain it...I thought that was funny to hear:)
