he never seriously overplayed... he had the best rythym live and was their most melodic drummer.

For all you guys saying he over do's the cymbals. The song was written with a lot of cymbals in it. And plus why not take it to that level. Its really fun. Im a drummer myself and dave is a really good inspiration. I believe he was the best PJ drummer. And im only 15.

PS: Drummers that seriously overplay are not invited to contribute to multi-platinum selling recording projects. PERIOD.

All of you people talking about Dave "overplaying" crack me up. As though just sitting back, shutting up and "playing for the song" is what makes a great drummer. Give me a f**king break! I get so tired of hearing that line of shit from self-righteous pricks. I've been the drummer and now I'm the songwriter. I know both sides of the argument quite intimately. It's a balance. Yes... there are times to lay back and times to let loose. Dave played perfectly for Pearl Jam's raw, loose sound.

Why do people keep bashing Matt so hard? Grow up! It just didn't work out for them in the band. They've had Matt for almost 14 years now, because it works out for them, and that's what MATTers! (sorry couldn't help it.
And yeah, I don't think their new stuff beats the old stuff, but we won't get another ten, or another VS by just bringing back Dave.
More likely we'll get a break up. Stop whining, cause it's not gonna happen!

@ericfontana Went downhill? Pearl Jam is a band for the fans. They don't need to hit the top charts. They evolved as a band, they been through so much together. In my opinion Pearl Jam is the best band the world has ever known.

Like The Clash when they kicked Topper Headon , they got demolished .
PJam now just sound old . Don't get me wrong , good but old .
Matt maybe was good for soundgarden , not for Pearl Jam .
