ENGLISH: Just fooling around with the Oliver Nelson standard. This arrangement is about 25 years old and is one of my first chord melody arrangements. I'd never heard any version of it: I got the theme from the Real Book and that must have made some difference. My camera has been showing signs of old age: notice the blank flashes. Because of that I originally intended this video to be here temporarily; but I got some positive feedback, so it'll stay.

PORTUGUÊS: Só me divertindo com o estândar do Oliver Nelson.

  • Finally! A Jazz musician who doesn't just type away with nonsense. Very poetic rendering....nice use of space between phrases. Around 3:40 it started to get a little less interesting and a bit too intellectual and less Blues feel...but nice conclusion.

  • @Rexicano Thank you! And I think you're quite right about the end of the solo. I'm not happy with it either.

But there's a good excuse for that. My camera uses up batteries too quickly, and the best video take does not usually coincide with the best played take. So I have to publish what I've got. I've been trying to convince myself to part with some cash for a good camera.

  • Awesome version of this tune! .....plus, your tone and phrasing are very smooth and organic...nice! Is there any way to get chord charts for your arrangement?

  • @thusken Thank you very much, thusken. Unfortunately, I don't do charts of my chord arrangements. I just read the melody straight from the fakebook, build the chords underneath it and more or less memorise it.

  • grande tio pablo :D

  • @Harky1951 Thank you very much, Pamela. Sometimes I get it right. And don't worry about misspelling Uruguay. I live in Brazil now, and all Brazilians spell it Uruguai. And Brazil is actually spelled Brasil. So there. :•D

  • @Harky1951 Sorry I spelled your country's name wrong. Oops. Better proof read eh?

  • Sooooo smooth. I found you on Freddy's channel. You have the same amazing tone that Freddy is able to broadcast on You Tube. Love it. My kind of GOOD that I could listen to forever. I just started reading about Uraguay where you are from. It sounds amazing. I have a friend who wants to move there. America isn't what it used to be. :( The best to you.
