Twice a day, the Canadian forces "changes the guard" in front of parliament between 10 and 10:30 am. The new guard marches up Elgin from Laurier to take their post. The old guard, leaves, walking along Wellington to Elgin, then down Elgin to Laurier. I caught the old guard leaving, as they pass in front of the war memorial with the beautiul Chateau Laurier in the background. This spectacle occurs each week day of the summer.
They are all soldiers. Many of them are reservists, so the army is a part-time job. They are students soldierz at the same time.

Not being a Canadian, I don't know if the Mounties change their guards as they are policemen. However, this is obviously the ceremonial Changing of the Guard by soldiers (or as I believe has been done in the past, college students; I think it is always soldiers, now)
